Privacy Policy
Effective October 7, 2026
This policy explains what DineCast collects, why, and what control you have. We do not sell your data and we do not show third-party ads.
What we collect
- Account information: email address, display name, username, and profile photo if you add one. If you sign in with Apple, Google, or Facebook, we receive the name and email those providers share.
- Location: your device location while you use the App, to show nearby restaurants. If you turn on location sharing, your location is stored and shown only to friends you have accepted, and it expires after a short time. You can turn this off at any time.
- Content you submit: wait-time and crowd reports, comments, likes, thanks, favorites, friend connections, and owner portal information.
- Push notification token: if you allow notifications.
- Diagnostics: crash and performance data from Firebase to keep the App working.
How we use it
To show restaurants and wait times near you, to credit your reports with points and badges, to connect you with friends, to send notifications you have enabled, and to keep the service safe. We do not use your data for advertising.
Who we share it with
- Google Firebase (hosting, database, sign-in, notifications, crash reporting).
- Google Places provides restaurant listings and photos. Your search location is sent to Google to find nearby restaurants.
- OpenAI receives restaurant names only, to classify cuisine. No personal data is sent.
- Apple, Google, and Facebook if you choose them to sign in.
- Other users see your display name, profile photo, level, and the reports and comments you post. Friends you accept can see your shared location while sharing is on.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account in the App (Profile → Delete Account) or at the deletion page. Deletion removes your profile, content, and sign-in and is permanent.
Your choices
You control location access and notifications in iOS Settings. You can stop location sharing, edit your profile, and delete content you posted at any time in the App.
Children
DineCast is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the App.
